NFF make key coaching appointments for Super Eagles, Super Falcons
Published: September 26, 2024The Nigeria Football Federation have announced key coaching appointments for the nation's apex football teams, the Super Eagles and Super Falcons, based on the recommendations of the Technical and Development Sub-Committee.
Austin Eguavoen is set to continue in his role as the interim coach of the Super Eagles ahead of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Libya next month.
The 1994 Africa Cup of Nations winner was initially appointed as the interim boss before the AFCON qualifiers against Benin and Rwanda respectively, but was supposed to be in charge for those two games only.
With the inability to hire a permanent coach for the three-time African champions, he is now set to continue in his position as well as Fidelis Ilechukwu, Daniel Ogunmodede, Olatunji Baruwa and Tomaz Zorec, all of whom have served as his assistants.
The NFF have also confirmed that Eguavoen and his assistants will be in charge of the Super Eagles B team for the 2025 Africa Nations Championship, a tournament set aside for players based only in Africa.
Similarly, the Nigeria's apex football governing body have announced that Coach Justin Madugu will serve as the interim coach of the Super Falcons.
The position became vacant upon the departure of American tactician Randy Waldrum who left his role due to personal reasons earlier this month.
Madugu will lead the remaining technical crew pending the announcement of a substantive coach for the record African champions.
