Key stats NGA v LBY: Simon most duels won, top dribbler; Iwobi top shooter; Lookman most key passes
Published: October 13, 2024Nigeria secured a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Libya's Mediterranean Knights to cement their top spot in Group D of the Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.
Lazio midfielder Fisayo Dele-Bashiru was the hero for the Super Eagles on Friday evening, coming off the bench to score the game-winning goal just four minutes from time to save the Super Eagles from an embarrassing draw at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium.

Alex Iwobi registered the most shots, four in total, with two on target and two off target, placing first ahead of second half substitute Samuel Chukwueze (2).
Left-back Bruno Onyemaechi saw the ball more than any other player, finishing with a game-high 91 touches, 17 more than Ola Aina (74) and 21 more than Wilfred Ndidi (70).
Moses Simon won the most duels (11) and was also the stat leader for successful dribbles (3).
On the flip side, Simon and Onyemaechi gave away possession the most times (21).
Ademola Lookman, Ola Aina and Calvin Bassey registered a joint-team high two tackles each, two less than Libya's Bader Hasan.
Lookman also showed the offensive side of his game with a game-high four key passes, two more than Onyemaechi and Simon.
When it came to accurate passes, captain William Troost-Ekong was the top man in that category having completed 53 of his 59 passes to finish with a passing accuracy of approximately 90 percent.
Wilfred Ndidi and Onyemaechi made a team-high two interceptions, bettered only by Bader Hasan (4).
