After pulling out of Afconq in Libya due to injury, AC Milan's Chukwueze in contention to face Udinese
Published: October 18, 2024
Samuel Chukwueze has made a swift recovery from his injury and in contention to be named in AC Milan's gameday squad on Saturday evening when they take on Udinese at the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza in Milano.
According to Turin-based sports daily Tuttosport, via Milan News, Chukwueze will be available for selection after overcoming his injury problems which saw him withdraw from the Super Eagles squad for the matchday four Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Libya, which was later cancelled.
Chukwueze was one of the standout performers for the Super Eagles after he came off the bench to replace Frank Onyeka just past the hour mark, but suffered an injury in the closing minutes of the contest at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium exactly a week ago.
It was feared that the former Villarreal sensation had suffered a recurrence of a muscle problem that has troubled him in recent years.
AC Milan manager Paulo Fonseca was relieved after additional tests categorically ruled out the possibility of an injury, upon the winger's arrival in Italy.
The Italian tactician now has to decide whether Chukwueze will be named in the starting lineup against the White and Blacks or if he will be fielded as a substitute.
Despite his impressive performances during pre-season, the Nigeria national teamer has yet to break into AC Milan's starting lineup in the new campaign, with only two starts from a possible nine in all competitions.
