Matter of stats: Atalanta reveal Lookman's latest milestone after big win v Verona; equals club record
Published: October 28, 2024
Through their official website, Atalanta have confirmed that Ademola Lookman hit a new personal milestone and equaled a club record during their 6-1 hammering of Hellas Verona in a Serie A clash at the Gewiss Stadium on Saturday, October 26.
The African Footballer of the Year and Ballon d'Or nominee provided the assist for the opening goal of the contest netted by Marten de Roon in the sixth minute and three minutes later, Mateo Retegui, from the edge of the box doubled the advantage after Lookman's shot was blocked.
In the fourteenth minute, Charles De Ketelaere curled the ball into the net to make it 3-0, with Lookman providing the assist.
The Atalanta number 11 added his name to the goalscorers in the 29th minute and got his brace five minutes later with a simple tap-in.
The Nerazzurri have announced with pride that it was a night of new personal milestones for Ademola Lookman, who closed the game with a brace and two assists to his name, which not only allowed him to set a new individual first.
Lookman also equaled a club record with his four goal involvements, repeating the feat of former Nerazzurri star Luis Muriel.
Before the visit of Hellas Verona, the Colombia forward was the last Atalanta player to have scored 2+ goals and provided 2+ assists in a single game back on April 27 2022 against Torino.
Saturday's big win versus Hellas Verona was manager Gian Piero Gasperini's 400th game at the helm of Atalanta across all competitions.
