'I've never seen this' - Ex-Trabzonspor star warns Galatasaray about struggling to replace Osimhen
Published: November 16, 2024Former Trabzonspor striker Erman Özgür believes Galatasaray will face difficulty in replacing Victor Osimhen.
The Super Eagles forward has become a central figure for the Lion since he arrived at the club on loan from Napoli in September and has strengthened their dominance in the Trendyol Süper Lig.
Okan Buruk's side leads the standings with 31 points, five ahead of second place Fenerbahçe and have scored more goals than any other side, with Osimhen playing a big role.
They are also considered one of the strongest sides in the UEFA Europa League and are yet to lose any game in the competition this term, scoring 12 goals, the second highest, with only Ajax Amsterdam scoring more.
Speaking to SkySpor Youtube channel via haber sari kirmizi, Özgür has been impressed with the performances of the 25-year-old and revealed that Galatasaray will struggle to replace the lanky striker when he leaves the club.
"From the moment you were able to get Osimhen, you became the favourite for the UEFA Cup. With or without Icardi, that doesn't change the fact.
"After Osimhen leaves, Galatasaray fans will not be happy with another centre forward performance. I have never seen anything like it.
"The guy has no ego either. He flies through the game! He both enjoys it and is very ambitious.
"He struggles, he is smart... As long as nothing happens to him, Galatasaray's target should be the European Cup".
Reports are making the rounds that Galatasaray are interested in securing a permanent move for the Nigeria international but Napoli director Giovanni Manna has ruled out the possibility of the Istanbul-based side signing him.
Fenerbahçe have also been credited with an interest in the 2023 Ballon d'Or nominee, but the club's Vice-President Acun Ilıcalı has debunked the report.
