'He's not worth N131b' - Former Besiktas sporting director shares what people are saying about Osimhen
Published: December 05, 2024
Former Besiktas sporting director Onder Özen has indicated that opinions on the value of Galatasaray star striker Victor Osimhen vary based on his current form.
The reigning African Footballer of the Year transferred to Galatasaray in September after failed moves to Chelsea and Al-Ahli on deadline day in the top five European leagues.
Osimhen is expected to see out his loan spell at the Turkish Super Lig champions amid speculation linking the Napoli-owned centre-forward with a move to the English Premier League and Saudi Pro League.
Napoli are hoping to earn at least 75 million euros (approximately N131 billion in Nigerian currency) from the sale of the Nigeria international at the end of the season, the value of the release clause in his contract.
With Mauro Icardi sidelined for the season, Galatasaray are turning to Osimhen more than ever to deliver goals.
Although the Napoli loanee has registered nine goals in twelve all-competition matches, his conversion rate tells a different story.
The 25-year-old has missed nine big chances in the Super Lig, ranking second behind Fenerbahce's Youssef En-Nesyri, who missed ten.
"When Victor Osimhen misses out, people say 'he's not worth 75 million Euros', when he scores a hat-trick, people say 'oh boy, let's get him'," Onder Özen said on the Vole Youtube channel, via habersarikirmizi.com.
Despite missing five matches, Osimhen has registered 41 shots, more than any other player in the Turkish top flight.
