'He didn't come here to sleep' - Turkish football expert hails Osimhen's passion after 10th Galatasaray goal
Published: December 09, 2024Turkish football expert and Telegol commentator Serhat Ulueren has praised Victor Osimhen for his passion following Galatasaray's hard-fought 3-2 win over Sivasspor in the Turkish Super Lig on Sunday afternoon.
The Nigerian international continued his rich vein of form by finding the back of the net as Galatasaray came from behind to secure their 12th league win of the season, opening up a six-point lead at the top of the table.
In the sixth minute of first-half stoppage time, Osimhen won a penalty for his side after being brought down by the Sivasspor goalkeeper following a defense-splitting pass from Yunus Akgün.
The Napoli loanee dusted himself down to convert from the spot, firing the ball into the top corner to give Galatasaray a 2-1 lead.
Galatasaray have been relying more on Osimhen for goals since his strike partner Mauro Icardi suffered a season-ending injury, and the Nigerian has delivered, scoring five goals in his last five games across all competitions.
Serhat Ulueren singled out Osimhen for praise for his work ethic but criticized his striking rival Michy Batshuayi for losing his shooting boots.
In quotes relayed by habersarikirmizi.com, Ulueren said : "Yunus Akgün and Barış Alper Yılmaz showed that they are still in form. Victor Osimhen wants it so much, it seems he didn't come here to sleep."
He added: "Michy Batshuayi should also throw away the positions he has entered. Otherwise, he will continue to be on the bench".
Galatasaray coach Okan Buruk is sweating on the fitness of Osimhen before his side's Europa League meeting with Malmo on Thursday after his star striker went off injured in the 74th minute against Sivasspor.
