16yo striker eligible for Nigeria, Ghana, England trains with Arsenal first team pre-Crystal Palace
Published: December 18, 2024Tri-national striker Andre Harriman-Annous was promoted to first team training by manager Mikel Arteta on the eve of his side's Carabao Cup quarterfinal clash against Crystal Palace at the Emirates Stadium in London, allnigeriasoccer.com reports.
The 16-year-old is eligible to represent Nigeria and Ghana through his mother and father respectively, as well as England where he was born and raised.
Harriman-Annous has been one of the standout players for Arsenal youth teams in the ongoing season, scoring on his debuts in the UEFA Youth League, EFL Trophy, FA Youth Cup and U18 Premier League Cup.
Arteta observed him at close quarters during Tuesday's workout at Sobha Realty Training Centre in London Colney, considering whether to include him in the matchday squad for the Eagles clash.
The Spanish football tactician handed full debuts to two other teenagers of Nigerian descent in the third round tie against Bolton Wanderers, namely attacking midfielder Ethan Nwaneri and fullback Josh Nichols.
Harriman-Annous, a product of Arsenal's Hale End Academy, is in the first year of his scholarship at the Gunners.
He has tallied eleven goals in all competitions so far this season, comprising five in the U18 Premier League, two in the U18 Premier League Cup, and one each in the EFL Trophy, UEFA Youth League, FA Youth Cup and Premier League 2.
Meanwhile, Nigerian forward Franco Umeh-Chibueze is nursing a hamstring injury and is unlikely to be included in Crystal Palace's matchday squad for the London derby.
