Former Turkey striker: Osimhen has no rival, urges Galatasaray to sign physical and athletic forward

Former Turkey international striker Gökmen Özdenak has suggested that Victor Osimhen was not at his best during Galatasaray's 2-1 victory against Goztepe this past weekend, despite the Super Eagles star getting on the scoresheet.

The Napoli loanee took his tally for the season to thirteen goals in all competitions when he opened the scoring from the spot ten minutes into the game.

The goalscoring burden now falls on Osimhen after Mauro Icardi suffered an anterior cruciate ligament injury during a Europa League match against Tottenham Hotspur on November 7, which may rule him out for the remainder of the campaign.

Former Chelsea forward Michy Batshuayi has had a tough time impressing at Galatasaray, scoring only seven goals in twenty-five games since his arrival last summer.

Although Galatasaray have a talented squad, Gökmen Özdenak has urged The Lion to sign a top-class striker with physicality and athleticism to rival the Nigeria international.

Osimhen's explosive pace and aerial dominance have made him a nightmare for defenses in Turkey, but Özdenak noted that Galatasaray struggle in games against stronger opponents.

In quotes relayed by habersarikirmizi.com, Telegol commentator Gökmen Özdenak said: "Victor Osimhen was not on the field in the Göztepe match . There is zero cooperation in the attack.

"We see that Galatasaray has difficulty against teams that are physically strong and play with contact. So the transfers to be made should be based on the physicality and athleticism that you lack."

Osimhen is one of the most sought-after strikers in Europe, with clubs like Juventus, Paris Saint-Germain, and Chelsea credited with interest.

However, a move is unlikely to happen in the January transfer window as the former African Footballer of the Year has vowed to see out his contract at Galatasaray.
