Club Brugge's Onyedika, Leverkusen's Tella, Arsenal's Nwaneri open UEFA Champions League account

Nigerian trio Raphael Onyedika, Nathan Tella, and Ethan Nwaneri scored their first goals in the UEFA Champions League on Wednesday night.

Club Brugge midfielder Raphael Onyedika gave his side the lead just before halftime against Manchester City.

The Nigerian latched onto a pass from Christos Tzolis and smashed the ball home to put the Belgian side ahead.

However, Pep Guardiola's men responded in the second half with goals from Mateo Kovačić, Savinho, and an own goal from Joel Ordonez, sealing a 3-1 victory for City and ensuring their progression to the next round.

In Spain, Arsenal's Ethan Nwaneri delivered a moment of magic to inspire the Gunners to a 2-1 comeback win against Girona.

Nwaneri picked up the ball inside the box, skillfully beat two defenders, and unleashed a superb strike into the far corner from outside the area.

The goal marked the 17-year-old's first-ever Champions League goal as he continues to impress under Mikel Arteta.

Meanwhile, in Germany, Nathan Tella added his name to the scoresheet in Bayer Leverkusen's 2-0 victory over Sparta Praha.

The Nigerian International capitalized on a loose ball after the goalkeeper failed to deal with Grimaldo's free kick, smashing it into the net.

Arsenal and Bayer Leverkusen sealed spots in the last 16 of the Champions League, while Club Brugge scraped into the last 32 despite the loss at Manchester City,
