England make move to beat Nigeria and Spain to talented Manchester United goalkeeper

The English Football Association has made a move to beat the Nigeria Football Federation and Royal Spanish Football Federation to the services of talented Manchester United goalkeeper Darlington Osuchukwu, allnigeriasoccer.com reports.

Osuchukwu has received a call-up to an England U16 training camp ahead of the upcoming UEFA Development Tournament, where the Young Lions will do battle with Colombia, France and Denmark in friendly matches.

By inviting Osuchukwu to the Young Lions, England have taken the lead in the race for the 16-year-old's allegiance at this stage.

The goalkeeper qualifies to represent five-time world champions, the Golden Eaglets through his Nigerian parents as well as Spain, having lived there for several years before moving to England.

A product of Spanish club Gazte Berriak, Osuchukwu joined Manchester United three years ago after his parents decided to live in England due to work commitments.

Osuchukwu, who is tall and physically strong for his age, attended an England U15 training camp in 2024.

England will take on Colombia in their opening game of the UEFA Development Tournament on February 28, followed by matches against Denmark (March 2) and France (March 5), with all the games taking place at the main field of Pinatar Arena in Spain.

Everton midfielder Malik Olayiwola and Newcastle United's Sam Alabi have also been named in the England U16 squad.
