Super Falcons forward scoops Liga F Player of the Month for February 2025
Published: March 04, 2025
Super Falcons forward Gift Monday has been named the Liga F Player of the Month for February, following her outstanding performances for UDG Tenerife in Spain’s top-flight women’s league.
The Nigerian outshone top contenders, including Real Madrid’s Alba Redondo, Barcelona’s Caroline Graham Hansen, Deportivo’s Ainhoa Marín, Athletic Bilbao’s Ane Azkona, Granada’s Ari Mingueza, and Eibar’s Elba Vergés, to claim the prestigious award.
The 23-year-old becomes the second Nigerian to receive the honor, following Rasheedat Ajibade, who won the inaugural edition of the award in September 2024.
The award was presented to her during Tenerife’s training session, with her teammates celebrating the achievement.
In recognition of her incredible performance, she becomes the Player of the Month of EA Sports FC,” Liga F announced on X.
Monday has been a key figure for Tenerife this season, scoring 10 goals in 18 matches and helping her team secure sixth place in the standings. She currently ranks third in the league’s goal-scoring chart, trailing Barcelona’s Ewa Pajor by five goals and Edna Imade by two.
The Nigerian forward, now in her third season in Spain, has enjoyed her best campaign yet, scoring in six consecutive games before a brief drought in recent matches.
Monday joined Tenerife in 2022 from FC Robo on a three-year contract and recently extended her stay at the club until 2027.
