Most away goals in Super Lig: Osimhen reaches double digits for the first time since 2022-23

Super Eagles forward Victor Osimhen continued his impressive goal-scoring form as Galatasaray came from behind to defeat Alanyaspor 2-1, despite playing with ten men for most of the match.

Osimhen, who has been a key player since his move from Napoli, scored the winning goal in the second half, ensuring Galatasaray took all three points despite the setback of losing goalkeeper Gunay Guvenc  to a red card just before halftime.

The former African Footballer of the Year has now netted 10 away goals in the league this term, more than any other player in the Super Lig.

It also marks the first time he has reached double figures in away goals since the 2022-2023 season with Napoli (14).

The match saw Alanyaspor take the lead in the 23rd minute through Tonny Vilhena, but Galatasaray equalized after an own goal from Fidan Aliti in the 51st minute.

Osimhen then struck two minutes after the hour mark to complete the comeback and secure a crucial victory for the Turkish giants.

With this goal, Osimhen has now recorded 21 goal contributions in 21 league appearances, scoring 17 goals and providing four assists.

His outstanding form has attracted interest from several top European clubs ahead of the summer transfer window.

Osimhen is expected to be among the most sought-after strikers in the transfer market, with many top clubs monitoring his progress.

His recent form—five goals in his last four league games—will also be a major boost for Nigeria ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Rwanda and Zimbabwe.

Malian coach Eric Chelle, who included Osimhen in Nigeria's 39-man provisional squad, will be hoping the striker maintains his red-hot form to help the Super Eagles secure crucial victories in their qualifying campaign.

Wins in both matches would significantly boost Nigeria's chances of reaching the 2026 FIFA World Cup in the USA, Canada, and Mexico.
