'No English club is ready' - Romano rules out Man Utd, Chelsea moves for Osimhen over N22b wage demand

Italian transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has revealed that Premier League giants Chelsea and Manchester United are currently unwilling to meet Victor Osimhen's wage demands of €12 million (approximately N22 billion in Nigerian currency) net per season.

Osimhen, who has been in sensational form on loan at Galatasaray, has become one of Europe’s most sought-after strikers, attracting interest from top clubs across England, Italy, France, and Saudi Arabia.

The Nigerian international has netted 30 goals and provided seven assists in 35 appearances this season, fueling speculation of a big-money move ahead of the upcoming transfer window.

Despite both Chelsea and Manchester United being on the lookout for a proven number nine, Romano stated that negotiations with Osimhen are not at an advanced stage, mainly due to the player’s salary expectations.

Speaking on his YouTube channel, Romano explained:  "Why is the deal for Victor Osimhen is not advancing? Because of the salary. That's the crucial point," he said.

"There's interest from Saudi and Italy. There would be movement around Victor Osimhen."

"He's not staying at Napoli, 75 million euro release clause. Napoli want the player to go, the player would return from Galatasaray loan and leave again."

Romano outlined two possible scenarios that could change the situation: either clubs agree to meet Osimhen’s wage demands, or the player lowers his salary expectations.

"So, there are two ways for an English club if they want to sign Osimhen, Manchester United or any other club, decide to put that money on the salary but for the moment the intention is no," Romano said.

"No English club is ready to put 12 million euros net for Victor Osimhen, if it changes, I will let you know."

"The other option is for Victor Osimhen to reduce is salary request and join one of these clubs. Otherwise, there's Saudi and more clubs interested."

As the summer window draws closer, Osimhen's future remains uncertain, with multiple clubs

keeping tabs on his situation. Whether he stays in Europe or moves to the Middle East will likely hinge on his flexibility regarding wage demands or a club stepping up to meet them.

The coming weeks will be crucial in determining the next step for the Super Eagles star, who is also looking to maintain his top form ahead of Nigeria’s Unity Cup tournament and the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.
