'We are qualifying' - Former Chelsea forward predicts win for Super Eagles against Cheetahs
Published: October 14, 2025
Former Chelsea forward Emmanuel Sarki has expressed optimism about Nigeria's chances of qualifying for the 2026 FIFA World Cup despite the tough task ahead of the Super Eagles.
Nigeria will face Benin Republic in a decisive Group C clash on Tuesday at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo.
The Super Eagles currently sit third in the group with 14 points and must win by at least two goals while hoping South Africa fail to beat Zimbabwe to secure qualification.
Sarki said he believes the team has what it takes to get the job done.
"I still have doubts but I hope we can qualify to the World Cup by God's grace. We will win against Benin," the former Golden Eaglets striker revealed to allnigeriasoccer.com.
He added that his confidence stems from the quality and depth of the current Super Eagles squad.
"With this current squad we have now, they are prepared and good to go for any team. That's why I have it in the back of my mind that we are qualifying to the World."
Benin currently top Group C with 17 points after a narrow 1-0 win over Rwanda last Friday in Kigali.
While Nigeria must win to stand a chance of progressing, Benin only need to avoid defeat and hope South Africa do not secure a big win over Rwanda.
