Romania Based Star, JOHN IBEH Says It's Mission Accomplished For STEPHEN KESHI
Published: June 11, 2012Romania based star John Ibeh is spending his summer vacation holidaying in Nigeria's commercial capital Lagos.
The 26-year-old midfielder who played in last season's UEFA Champions League has hailed the Eagles 1-1 draw with the Flames of Malawi in Blantyre, match day two qualifiers for Brazil 2014 World Cup.
''I would say it's mission accomplished for the coach, Stephen Keshi. Before the match, he had targeted a draw. And that was the final outcome. Any other result would have been a bonus for Nigeria,'' the Pandurii Târgu Jiu midfielder told allnigeriasoccer.com.
The former Jasper United star went further: '' Compare the results of other African countries rated in the same category as Nigeria. Ghana and Cameroon lost away, while South Africa, Senegal and Ivory Coast like Nigeria drew their away matches. Keshi is rebuilding the National Team, and he needs support from all stakeholders - the fans, Press and the Nigeria Federation.''
On Malawi's late, late equalizer, Ibeh said: ''I was not shocked that Malawi snatched a draw just before the referee blew his final whistle. It happens in Europe a lot, in the Champions League. Look no further than the final of the 2011-2012 Champions League between Bayern Munich and Chelsea. Would you say Bayern Munich conceded a late goal because they had inexperienced players or a bad coach?''
John Ibeh is under contract with Pandurii Târgu Jiu until the end of the 2012 - 2013 season.
