Exclusive: JOHN NWOBA Close To AS Trencin Deal
Published: June 18, 2012John Ogechukwu Nwoba has been invited to train with Slovak Superliga side AS Trencin with a view of offering him a contract if he proves his fitness, Daddy Okeke, the player's representative has informed allnigeriasoccer.com.
In the winter transfer window, the Malta based player had signed a short term deal with Mqabba FC. Following Hajduks' relegation to the first division at the end of last season, Nwoba is not interested in continuing his collaboration with the South-West club.
Now, the 22-year-old, who netted 5 goals in 8 basic games in the 2011 - 2012 season, is close to a dream move to the former club of Fanendo Adi, who is now based in Ukraine.
''Nwoba is flying tomorrow June 19th to Slovakia, and will play an exhibition game against šK Slovan Bratislava on Wednesday. If he can prove his fitness, he would be offered a contract.
''There are offers from clubs in the Maltese Premier League for him, but he wishes to continue his career with a club abroad, '' Daddy Okeke, the player's representative, told allnigeriasoccer.com in a telephone conversation.
Malta Under 21 international Steve Pisani, who played last season for Hibernians, has been training with AS Trencin for the past four days. Both Nwoba and Pisani will play the exhibition game on Wednesday against Slovan Bratislava.
