IKECHUWKU UCHE Starts Pre-Season With Villarreal
Published: July 12, 2012Ahead of the resumption of the 2012 - 2013 season, Ikechukwu Uche on Thursday started pre-season training with Villarreal.
The Super Eagle had been given permission by officials of the club to resume training three days behind schedule due to international commitments with the Nigeria selection in June.
According to a report by elmundo.es, Uche began the training session with the rest of his teammates, but retired for individual training after the workout with his colleagues.
Villarreal are short on strikers following the sale of Marco Ruben to Dynamo Kiev and the long term injury suffered by the Italian forward Giuseppe Rossi.
Uche, if he is not sold before the end of the transfer window, will be an important member of the squad next season.
The Yellow Submarines, relegated to Spain's second tier at the end of last season, are willing to sell Ikechukwu Uche if any club meets his valuation. So far, only Recreativo de Huelva have been linked with the Nigerian star in the summer transfer market.
