Exclusive: CEDRIC OMOIGUI Delighted To Make Final Cut
Published: July 22, 2012New kid on the block and former Real Madrid youth-teamer Cedric Omoigui was the headline name as Nigeria Under 20 coach John Obuh unveiled a 20 - man roster for the tricky AYC qualifying match with Tanzania in a week's time.
The 17-year-old is thrilled that he made the final cut, and is eager to make his international bow with the Flying Eagles.
Speaking on his inclusion, Omoigui told allnigeriasoccer.com: ''Yes of course, this is the highlight of my career so far. It is a dream come true for me and my family. I am very happy and looking forward to this great challenge.''
Since leaving the country 15 years ago to settle in Spain, this is Omoigui's first visit to Nigeria. He says he has enjoyed tremendous support from the technical crew and his Flying Eagles teammates.
''The Flying Eagles' team is like one family, everybody is my friend. They made it possible (my teammates, ed) to be part of this squad, and I am very grateful to them. There are so many great players in this team. I am going to learn everything possible in camp, so when I go back to Spain I'l improve,'' says Omoigui.
Cedric Omoigui has picked Portugal super - star Cristiano Ronaldo as his role model, and tries to emulate the performances of the Real Madrid icon on the pitch.
