Ukrainian Federation To Hammer Dnipro Over MICHAEL ODIBE, Others
Published: October 20, 2012
Coach Juande Ramos selection error could land Ukrainian Premier League club Dnipro Dnipropetrov in hot water.
In the 12th round of matches decided on Saturday evening against Lucky Idahor's Zorya, which ended 3-2 in favor of the home team, the Spanish coach had started the match with four Ukrainian Nationals on the pitch.
Ramos was forced to make a substitution in the 38th minute of the encounter at the Stadion Avanhard (Lugansk), replacing Ukrainian player Oliynyk for the Georgian international Jaba Kankava.
And this meant Dnipro had eight foreign players, including the Nigerian central defender Michael Odibe on the pitch, an infraction of the rules which stipulates a maximum of seven foreign players.
The Ukrainian Federation will decide in the coming days the club's punishment. It is likely Dnipro would forfeit three points and the scoreline adjusted to a 3 - 0 victory in favor of Zorya.
