Gzira United Release Alfred Effiong

Maltese First Division club Gzira United have released striker Alfred Effiong as he failed to impress during his stay with The Maroons, writes our colleagues at sportinmalta.com.

Both parties mutually agreed to terminate the contract binding them and now the Nigerian player can join any club of his choice in the winter transfer market.

The former Marsaxlokk and Valletta striker was the club's top earner as he was earning 2,300 euros every month.

Meanwhile, Hamrun Spartans will test an unnamed Nigerian striker starting from this week.
