Update Jossy Lad: Family Commends UCH
Published: March 31, 2013The family of the ailing former Super Falcons Coach, Jossy Lad has congratulated the management of University College Hospital (UCH) for reviving the health of their bread winner who had been receiving treatment at the hospital after he was diagnosed with heart related ailment.
Speaking with newsmen at the Southwest ward 3 of UCH where the 72 years old sweat merchant was admitted, his first son Wale Ladipo was full of thanks to the Chief Medical Director of the teaching hospital Professor Temitope Alonge who he said has shown great concern since his father arrived the hospital.
''The CMD has shown great concern towards the health of my dad here, he has made it his daily routine to visit and examine him to know his state not to mention when he would pay for his medical test from his personal pocket”, Wale noted.
Meanwhile, following the recent visit of the Hon Minister/Chairman National Sports Commission Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi to University College Hospital (UCH) where he commiserated and donated cash to the of the critically ill ex-international, the National Sport Commission has collaborated with an Ibadan based radio, Splash FM 105.5 to appeal to spirited sport loving Nigerians to raise funds for the treatment of the coach.
This development has been commended by the Director General, National Sport Commission, Chief Dr. Patrick Ekeji, who described the gesture of the radio station as a good omen which is in line with the Federal Government’s Public Private Partnership (PPP) policy.
He therefore appealed to the generality of Nigerians to come to the aid of the first captain of the club-side (IICC) that won the first continental trophy for Nigeria in 1976.
The idea according the Zonal Coordinator, South West Zone of the National Sport Commission (NSC) Dr. Steve Olarinoye was conceived at a meeting held with the Chairman and founder of Splash FM, Chief Adebayo Akande, the Agba-Akin of Ibadanland, where they see the urgent need to appeal to members of the public to save the life of the ex-international who is bed-ridden.
The Ibadan high Chief expressed his gratitude to the National Sport Commission for the brilliant idea and immediately swung into action by summoning his key staff to set the ball rolling.
He ordered that a bank account be opened in the name of the sick coach, with the family member of Jossy Lad, Splash FM accountant and the Zonal Coordinator being the signatories to the account.
