Portsmouth are interested in signing former Republic of Ireland U21 international of Nigerian descent Jonathan Afolabi.
Hampshire Live says Pompey are looking at signing the striker after catching the eye of manager Danny Cowley in a pre-season friendly against Qatar SC on Saturday.
In thirty minutes of action after coming off the bench, Afolabi scored and registered an assist in a 2-0 win.
The 22-year-old is currently unemployed following his release by Scottish champions Celtic, where he spent the last three years of his career.
Portsmouth are in the market for a striker and have been strongly linked with two other players of Nigerian descent, Victor Adeboyejo and Tottenham Hotspur's Kion Etete.
Afolabi departed Celtic without making his senior debut and was farmed out on loan to Dunfermline Athletic, Dundee FC, Ayr United and Airdrieonians to get a taste of first-team football.
He spent the formative years of his career with Shamrock Rovers and St Joseph's Boys in the Republic of Ireland before moving to Southampton in 2016.
