Rohr : Mikel & Echiejile Showed Great Determination Vs Algeria Despite Lack Of Game Time

Franco-German manager Gernot Rohr has spoken of his happiness in the wake of the Super Eagles 3-1 win over Algeria in a World Cup qualifier staged at the Akwa Ibom International Stadium on Saturday.<br /><br />Without mentioning names, the Nigeria coach admitted that a couple of players in his starting XI, thought to be Mikel and Elderson Echiejile were lacking match fitness, but their grit and determination made them put up a good performance. <br /><br />&ldquo;I am very happy with this victory against Algeria, I am happy for my players, but also for the supporters, &rdquo; said Rohr to reporters.<br /><br />&ldquo;The Algerian team had absentees at the start of the match and we had to be vigilant.<br /><br />&ldquo;Our team also has some absentees, but we were able to compensate for these absences and the lack of competition of some of our players by a great determination as you have seen on the pitch.&rdquo;<br /><br />Nigeria return to action in the World Cup qualifiers in August 2017 when they host the Indomitable Lions of Cameroon.<br /><br />Ifeanyi Emmanuel <br />
