One player who will certainly make his full debut for Nigeria in Friday evening's friendly against Algeria is Zaidu Sanusi, according to Super Eagles manager Gernot Rohr.
The German football tactician revealed that the Porto new boy has caught the eye in the training sessions in Austria and his main job tomorrow is to nullify the threat of Algeria wing-wizard Riyad Mahrez.
Rohr's first-choice left-back heading into the fixture with the Desert Foxes, Jamilu Collins has been inactive for his club Paderborn since the conclusion of the 2019-20 campaign while Torino loanee Ola Aina has not played much since returning to England.
"We have the other new defender, Sanusi, the left-back, he will start the game," Rohr said at Thursday's press conference.
"He is a very strong and quick defender, you know they have Mahrez on the right side, he has to be very, very strong but we are satisfied what he's doing in the training sessions.
"He's in Porto now, he's one of our two boys who can play in the Champions League, him with Porto and Frank Onyeka with Midtjylland."
Highlighting the attributes of Onyeka, Rohr stated : "Frank is a defensive midfielder, good passing, good presence, quiet, he's all the time available to play and to get the ball and to play forward, participate so really very good impression of him also."
Nigeria were faced with a crisis in midfield leading up to the friendlies, with Glasgow Rangers' Joe Aribo, Stoke City's Oghenekaro Etebo and Leicester City's Wilfred Ndidi unavailable for selection due to injuries.
