Chinese Super League club Shanghai Shenhua are looking to generate a profit if their marque signing of February 2019, Odion Ighalo is sold to Manchester United in the summer transfer window.
The Mirror UK has claimed that Manchester United have been quoted 15 million pounds to sign the former Nigeria international on a permanent basis.
Allnigeriasoccer.com can exclusively report with certainty that Ighalo cost Shanghai Shenhua €15 million (approximately £13.6 million) when he was acquired from Changchun Yatai, meaning the Super League team would make a slight profit of £1.4 million if the striker eventually joins the Old Trafford outfit at the current asking price.
Manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer hinted after the Europa League meeting against LASK in Austria that the Nigerian could be at Manchester United for the 2020-2021 campaign.
The Norwegian told reporters post-match on Thursday : "Odion has come in really well and he will improve and get better. But he has qualities we saw in him and needed and we need those qualities for next season.
"He’s a goal-scorer and a striker. He doesn’t worry too much about all that nonsense, build-up play - that’s a joke obviously.
"He knows his job and role in the team, and he’s very good with his back to goal.
"He’s a great link player, but maybe the best thing about him is his personality. He’s got the whole lot really."
Ighalo was the most expensive Nigerian player in history when he was sold by Watford to Changchun Yatai for a fee in the region of £21 million in January 2017, before the record was surpassed by Leicester City's Kelechi Iheanacho, then Everton's Alex Iwobi.
