In its preview of Thursday night&rsquo;s Europa League tie against Gent at the Ghelamco Arena, the official website of Tottenham Hotspur has rued the absence of former player William Troost-Ekong.<br /><br />The Nigeria international defender has returned to Belgium after his loan spell with Haugesund but will not face his former team because he has not been registered for the competition.<br /><br />&ldquo;The club also has an ex-Spurs player in their ranks in the form of William Troost-Ekong, who played for our academy side, including the occasional game in the same team as Harry Kane, before leaving for Dutch side FC Groningen in 2013.<br /><br />&ldquo;William, who won bronze with Nigeria at last summer&rsquo;s Olympic Games in Rio, will not be eligible to feature against us, as he is not named on Gent&rsquo;s Europa League squad list,&rdquo; Spurs stated.<br /><br />Rabiu Ibrahim played alongside Victor Wanyama at Celtic during the 2012-13 season and both would come face to face tonight if they are selected.<br /><br />Dutch-born Troost-Ekong represented the youth team of Fulham before crossing over to Tottenham Hotspur. <br /><br />Ifeanyi Emmanuel<br /><br />Photo Credit : tottenhamhotspur.com<br />
