Chelsea are on the brink of announcing the signing of Super Eagles-eligible player Lesley Ugochukwu.
The Premier League side and Rennes have reached a club-to-club agreement for the transfer of the France youth international of Nigerian descent.
According to Italian transfer market expert Fabrizio Romano, Ugochukwu has completed a medical examination in the United Kingdom as a new Chelsea player and will formalize his transfer to the London club by putting pen to paper on a contract on Sunday, July 30.
After signing the contract, manager Mauricio Pochettino will decide whether the defensive midfielder will join Chelsea's first team now or be loaned out for a season.
If it is decided that Ugochukwu is better off continuing his development elsewhere, he will most likely be sent to Strasbourg - a French top tier side owned by American consortium BlueCo who also own Chelsea.
The 19-year-old is Chelsea's fourth new signing for the first team ahead of the upcoming season, after Christopher Nkunku , Nicolas Jackson and Angelo Gabriel.
Ugochukwu, the nephew of retired Nigeria international Onyekachi Apam, is joining Chelsea for a transfer fee of twenty seven million euros.
