Super Falcons striker follows in Aina, Awoniyi, Dennis' footsteps with first goal for Forest at City Ground

Super Falcons striker Joy Omewa was on target as Nottingham Forest secured a 2–0 victory over Ipswich Town in a Women's Super League 2 clash at the City Ground on Sunday, allnigeriasoccer.com reports.

The Danish Women's League Player of the Year for 2024–2025 joined Forest during the winter transfer window, signing a short-term deal that runs until the summer of 2026.

Omewa had earlier announced her arrival in WSL2 with a goal on debut, though it proved a mere consolation in a heavy 5–1 defeat to Birmingham City.

Against Ipswich Town, the former Falconets and Flamingoes forward showed early intent, narrowly missing the target inside the opening minute.

She was denied again in the 16th minute, with the visitors clearing their lines just before she could pull the trigger.

The breakthrough eventually came in the 28th minute when Omewa calmly converted from close range after meeting a well-delivered cross from Cerys Brown.

The goal marked her second in Nottingham Forest colours and her first at the City Ground since arriving from Fortuna Hjørring in January 2026.

In doing so, Omewa joins an exclusive list of Nigerian internationals to have scored at the City Ground for Nottingham Forest, emulating Taiwo Awoniyi, Ola Aina and Emmanuel Dennis.
