Through a statement on the official website, National League club Sutton United have confirmed the signing of Dubem Eze from Bolton Wanderers, with the club's official announcement drawing attention.
Although the attacking midfielder was born in London, the English capital, Sutton United used the green-white-green Nigerian flag in the official announcement to indicate Eze’s nationality.
Allnigeriasoccer.com exclusively reported last January that Eze had pledged his international future to Nigeria over his country of birth England.
The Nigeria Football Federation acted quickly by handing him an invitation to a Flying Eagles training camp ahead of two international friendlies against Egypt., which were later cancelled.
As of now, Eze remains focused on playing for the Nigerian national team rather than England, but he is aware that he still has a lot of work to do to earn another call-up to their youth setup.
The versatile midfielder began his career at Chelsea, where he spent approximately eight years, before having spells at Derby County and Norwich City, and joined Bolton Wanderers in the summer of 2024 after a successful trial.
During his time at Bolton Wanderers, he enjoyed loan spells at Chorley and FC Halifax Town last season before joining Scunthorpe United at the start of this season.
Eze has been assigned the number 47 shirt for the second half of the season at Sutton United.
