Manchester United wonderkid Angel Gomes has come clean about the trending video showing him at the Synagogue Church Of All Nations, SCOAN Lagos.
The England youth international revealed that it was an old video from about four years ago and admitted that he visited the Nigerian prophet, T.B. Joshua on the advice of his mother.
Earlier tipped as the next big star to emerge from the United academy, Gomes's career has been blighted by injuries, which have limited him to only ten appearances for the first team in three years.
Setting the record straight, Gomes posted on Twitter : "Regarding the video that has come out from 2016. I am from a Christian family at the time my mum was a fan of the pastor, and she really wanted me to go.
"I was going through some issues. From the outside looking in it looks crazy, but I was just practicing my faith.
"I didn’t really need to explain myself but a lot of people was asking me what the video was about. I was young at the time and if my parents thought something was best for me I would do it.
"There are far more important issues out there in the world we can tackle."
An attacking midfielder, Gomes was teammates with Nigerian starlets Tosin Kehinde and Matthew Olosunde in Manchester United U23 team during the 2017-2018 season.
