'They are normally in the Champions League' - Nottingham Forest defender Ola Aina wary of Porto

Ola Aina has expressed caution over the threat posed by FC Porto ahead of Nottingham Forest's UEFA Europa League first-leg clash at the Estádio do Dragão on Thursday.

The Nottingham Forest defender, who has been a key figure for the Premier League side, described the Portuguese outfit as a traditional force that regularly competes in European competitions.

Speaking to UEFA, Aina praised the quality within Porto's squad, noting that their experience and depth make them a formidable opponent.

"Porto have always been a quality team," Aina said. "[They're] normally in the Champions League so you know that they're a big side."

"They're obviously a big side in Portugal too, and I think they're doing really well in the league. They've got great players so we know it's going to be a tough job. But, ultimately, we've got good players as well."

The Nigerian international also praised Forest manager Vítor Pereira for his impact since taking charge, highlighting the calmness and structure he has brought to the squad.

"Working with Vítor [Pereira]has been really good. I think he's brought calmness to the team and the group that we have here. We're loving the way he prepares the games and prepares his team," he added.

Looking ahead, Aina stressed the importance of maintaining focus, insisting the team will approach the competition one game at a time while keeping hopes alive for a strong finish.

"We'll take it game by game. You know these competitions – anything can happen. We have focus on the next match first, but hopefully we find ourselves with something amazing," Aina concluded.

The former Chelsea defender has played a key role for Forest this season, despite missing the early part of the competition through injury.

Since returning, Aina has featured in all six matches, contributing one assist as Forest advanced to the quarter-finals.

Heading into the second leg, he will be eager to sustain his impressive form and help the team secure a positive result against their Portuguese opponents.
