Birmingham City manager Chris Davies has lauded Super Eagles fullback Bright Osayi -Samuel for his performance at the 2025 African Cup of Nations tournament in Morocco.
Osayi-Samuel played a key role as Nigeria clinched the bronze medal, edging Egypt 4-2 on penalties in the third-place match.
The former Fenerbahçe delivered a solid defensive work and strong offensive contributions, helping the Super Eagles emerge as one of the tournament’s most attack-minded sides.
Speaking during his pre-match press conference, Davies applauded Osayi-Samuel’s performances for Nigeria, noting that his displays remained commendable despite the team’s disappointment at missing out on the Afcon title.
"He's back, which is great news, and congratulations to him for his performances and Nigeria's in the tournament," Davies told reporters.
"Although they couldn't go on to win it they certainly did the country proud and Bright really enjoyed being part of that, so we are pleased to have him back."
Osayi-Samuel was substituted in the third-place game against Egypt after injuring his hamstring in the second half.
This raised questions about whether he would be ready for the match at St. Andrew's Stadium.
Providing an update on his fitness, the Blues manager disclosed that the Nigerian International has been assessed by the club and he's fit to feature against Stoke City.
"He is available. There was a little something there but we’ve had him checked out and he’s trained as well today, he's fine," Davies added.
The 28-year-old, who has missed the last nine matches for the Blues, will be keen to continue his fine display against the Potters on Saturday.
