Three former Manchester United strikers of Nigerian descent and Shola Shoretire have sent messages of congratulations to Anthony Elanga after the Anglo-Swede-Cameroonian wonderkid netted his first goal for the Red Devils in the UEFA Champions League in a 1-1 draw with Atlético de Madrid at Wanda Metropolitano on Wednesday night.
Apart from Shoretire, Noah Ohio, Mipo Odubeko and Deji Sotona played alongside Elanga in the Manchester United youth set up before they moved onto pastures new.
After Joao Felix had given Atlético de Madrid the lead with a fantastic header, the Spanish side were made to pay for their missed scoring chances as Elanga, a replacement for Marcus Rashford, scored five minutes after coming off the bench.
The 19-year-old side-footed into the far corner in the 80th minute, with Bruno Fernandes supplying the assist, to salvage a late draw for the Premier League giants.
Writing on Instagram after the game, Elanga stated : "First #UCL goal! âš½ï¸ All to play for at OT!GLORY TO GOD ALWAYS".
Here's how the four youngsters of Nigerian descent responded to Elanga's post :
Noah Ohio : "Come and see what the lord has done 🤞ðŸ¾â¤ï¸".
Shola Shoretire : "ðŸ‘â¤ï¸"
Deji Sotona : "God Is Good Man".
Mipo Odubeko : "🔥🔥🔥"
