Former Super Eagles striker Peter Osaze Odemwingie confirmed his retirement last week and there were lot of reactions from football lovers around the world.

The former Lokomotiv Moscow man helped Nigeria's Olympics team, known as Dream Team, to a second-place finish behind Argentina at the 2008 Beijing Olympics.

Despite all their efforts to win the ultimate prize, Messi inspired Argentina held-on to a narrow 1-0 victory over the young West African side.

Setting and Reaching his 15-goal target With West Brom

It is rare to see players set a target of goals they want to score prior to the start of a season, and achieve their aim at the end of the season.

When Osaze joined the Baggies from Lokomotiv Moscow In 2010, he promised to deliver nothing less than 15 goals before the end of the campaign.

Many thought  Odemwingie's 15-goal target was an unrealistic one due to the fact that he's playing in England for the first time in his career.

Surprisingly, the Russia-born star reached his target before the end of the season, which must have been one of his best moments in his playing days.

Three-time Premier League Player of the Month Award

Odemwingie will be happy that his efforts on the pitch didn't went unnoticed by the fans and Premier League FA during his active days on the field of play.

During his days with the Baggies, the 37-year-old won Premier League player of the month award on three different occasions, becoming one of few Nigerians to have won the prestigious award.

He won his first EPL player of the month award in September 2010, but had to wait for six months to win the award for the second time.

He was voted the player of the month for the third time in his career in February 2012. Odemwingie played 63 matches for the Super Eagles, scoring 10 goals in the process.
