'Top of the goalscoring charts' - Onuachu insists personal accolades secondary to Trabzonspor's ambitions

Speaking with Trabzonspor fans at an autograph signing event held at the TS Club store in Akyazı on Thursday, Paul Onuachu expressed his satisfaction with his outstanding performances this season.

With 22 goals to his name, the Nigeria international is the leading scorer in the Turkish Super Lig, netting six goals more than nearest challenger, Istanbul Basaksehir forward Eldor Shomurodov.

Onuachu has played a decisive role for Trabzonspor, who sit third in the standings on 63 points, four adrift of table-toppers and reigning champions Galatasaray with six matches remaining in the campaign.

Reflecting on the season so far, Onuachu told reporters: "We are having a great season, both as a team and as a coaching staff. Being at the top of the goalscoring charts is very important to me. I feel very happy".

Despite his individual achievements, the FC Ebedei product was quick to emphasise that personal accolades are secondary to the club's overall objectives.

When questioned about the title race, Onuachu remained cautious, stressing that actions on the field speak louder than words.

"Right now, without making too many comments, we need to continue winning our matches. There's a 4-point difference, and we have matches ahead. Let's win, and the rest will be clear."

Trabzonspor's next game in the Super Lig is a trip to Alanyaspor on Saturday, April 11.
