2021 Super Eagles invitee Joshua Oluwayemi is relishing the prospect of facing two of his former teammates when Tottenham Hotspur trade tackles with Cambridge United in an EFL Trophy clash at the Abbey Stadium on Tuesday evening.
Cambridge United have in their ranks two Tottenham Hotspur academy products in Nigerian defender Jubril Okedina and winger Shilow Tracey, who were offered permanent deals after successful loan spells with the League One club in the second half of last season.
Oluwayemi knows all about the qualities of Okedina and Tracey having played alongside the duo for Tottenham Hotspur's academy teams before they left the north London club in the summer transfer window.
The Nigerian goalkeeper feels that the players' familiarity with Okedina and Tracey could help Tottenham Hotspur secure a win.
"It's good to see your friends go on to play in the league and take the next step in their careers and it'll be interesting to see some familiar faces, but at the end of the day we’re going there to win," Oluwayemi said to Tottenham's official website.
"After the game we can catch up but as of right now, the message and the requirement is to win."
Oluwayemi added : "We just have to be alert, because with them having played for us, it gives us a little insight into what they do, but they're both top players so we'll have to be at our best to keep them at bay".
Oluwayemi, 20, is the undisputed first-choice goalkeeper for Tottenham Hotspur's development squad, starting all their six matches this season and conceding 13 goals.
