Former Nigeria U23 international Nathan Oduwa was surprised to hear of Ovie Ejaria's decision to end his loan spell with Scottish Premiership giants Rangers six months before the agreement was supposed to run out.
The Tottenham Hotspur product spent time on loan at Rangers for five months during the 2015-2016 season, scoring one goal in 19 appearances and notching five assists, and remains popular at The Light Blues due to his repertoire of skills.
Ejaria began his career with Rangers on a high note, helping them qualify for the group stage of the Europa League but became unsettled in recent weeks before returning to Liverpool, his parent club.
''I was totally shocked to see that Ovie cut his loan move short,'' Oduwa told the Daily Record.
''I liked Ovie as a player. He has good feet and he is a really positive person.
''It is unfortunate that the loan hasn’t worked out.
''I just hope that he has not made a big career mistake and that he regrets leaving Rangers when he did.''
Oduwa went on : ''I hope Ovie has no regrets because he is a talented footballer and has lots of potential.
''I’m sure the Rangers supporters saw glimpses of that when he was there.
''I am sure he won’t regret it and that he can get his career back on track after this setback.''
Ejaria has not played for Liverpool's first team since he lasted 74 minutes on the pitch against Wolves in the fourth round of the Emirates FA Cup in January 2017.
