Trabzonspor striker Paul Onuachu will be aiming to open his scoring account against Galatasaray when both sides meet at Papara Park on Sunday, as club football resumes following the international break.
The highly anticipated Super Lig encounter presents another opportunity for the Nigerian forward to extend his remarkable goalscoring run this season.
Onuachu, who joined Trabzonspor from Southampton last summer, has been in sensational form, registering 21 goals and two assists in just 24 league appearances.
His outstanding performances have propelled him to the top of the Super Lig scoring chart, ahead of notable forwards such as Victor Osimhen, Mauro Icardi, Eldor Shomurodov of Istanbul Basaksehir, and Anderson Talisca of Fenerbahce.
Despite his prolific form, the Super Eagles striker is yet to find the back of the net against Galatasaray this season.
He was unable to score in their previous meeting at Rams Park, where Trabzonspor secured a hard-fought goalless draw.
That remains one of the few fixtures in which the towering forward has been kept quiet.
Heading into Saturday’s clash, Onuachu will be eager to break that duck and further underline his dominance in the Turkish top flight.
Notably, Paul Onuachu has a strong scoring record against most teams he has faced two times, with only a few exceptions.
He has failed to find the net in two matches each against Adana Demirspor and Eyüpspor, making them the only sides he has not scored against despite facing them more than once.
If he fails to score against Galatasaray, the Yellow-Reds will be added to that short list, an outcome Onuachu will be eager to avoid as he looks to find the net and help Trabzonspor secure a positive result in front of their home fans.
