Super Eagles midfielder Christantus Uche continued his resurgence in form on Thursday night, scoring a stunning goal as Crystal Palace played out a 2–2 draw against Finnish side KuPS in the UEFA Europa Conference League at Selhurst Park.
Uche, who joined the Eagles on a season-long loan from Spanish club Getafe in the summer, gave the Premier League side an early advantage with a moment of individual brilliance.
The Nigerian midfielder collected the ball just outside the penalty area, created space with quick footwork, and curled a superb effort into the far corner using the outside of his right boot, much to the delight of the home supporters.
Crystal Palace, however, were unable to build on the opener. Second-half goals from Piotr Parzyszek and Ibrahima Cissé turned the game in KuPS’ favour, putting the visitors 2–1 ahead and threatening to hand Palace a damaging home defeat.
The hosts eventually salvaged a point when Justin Devenny found the equaliser, restoring parity late in the contest.
Uche’s strike was his second goal in the UEFA Conference League this season, having previously opened his account in the competition during his first start against Shelbourne FC.
The goal underlined the midfielder’s growing confidence and influence after a difficult start to life in English football.
The 22-year-old endured early challenges adapting to the physical demands and tempo of the Premier League, a run of form that contributed to his omission from Nigeria’s squad for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco.
That setback now appears to have served as motivation, with Uche increasingly impressing in European competition and domestic outings for Palace.
While pleased with his personal contribution, Uche and Crystal Palace will be disappointed with the overall outcome.
The draw meant the club missed the chance to finish among the top eight teams in the league phase, denying them automatic qualification to the Round of 16.
Nevertheless, Uche will be eager to maintain his momentum as he continues to push for consistency, club success, and a return to the Super Eagles setup.
