Uzoho first to arrive as Super Eagles open Afcon 2025 camp in Cairo ahead of Egypt friendly

The Super Eagles’ camp for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations officially opened on Sunday, December 14, at the Renaissance Hotels in Cairo, Egypt, as Nigeria stepped up preparations for the continental tournament, allnigeriasoccer.com reports.

All members of the coaching crew and backroom staff have arrived in camp, marking the formal start of activities ahead of the competition.

Goalkeeper Francis Uzoho was the first player to report, touching down in Cairo shortly after 2:00am local time on Sunday morning.

Nigeria, three-time winners of the Africa Cup of Nations, will be aiming to secure a fourth continental title when the tournament gets underway.

The Super Eagles have been drawn in Group C, where they will face Tunisia, Tanzania and Uganda during the group stage.

Nigeria’s campaign at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations will begin on Tuesday, December 23, with an opening fixture against Tanzania.

Preparations are set to officially gather momentum following the opening of camp, with players expected to join the team as arrangements continue.

As part of the build-up to the tournament, the Super Eagles are scheduled to play a pre-AFCON international friendly against Egypt on Tuesday.

The match will serve as part of the team’s final preparations before travelling to Morocco, the host nation for the competition.
