The Super Falcons of Nigeria have been drawn into Group C for the 2026 CAF Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON), setting up a competitive group stage in the expanded 16‑team tournament in Morocco.
The draw, held on Thursday in Rabat, Morocco, placed the defending champions alongside Zambia, Egypt and Malawi in a group that will test all teams’ preparation and skill.
Nigeria, current title holders, enter the tournament with a strong tournament record, having won the WAFCON title a record ten times, making them one of the most successful teams in African women’s football history.
Zambia, a regular participant in recent women’s continental competitions, brings experience and a notable tournament record that could challenge the Super Falcons in the group stage.
Egypt, reinstated following CAF’s expansion of the tournament from 12 to 16 teams, carries a tournament record reflecting its ambition to establish itself in continental women’s football.
Malawi, competing after a strong qualification run, will aim to create a tournament record of its own in the 2026 finals.
The 2026 WAFCON, scheduled from 17 March to 3 April 2026 across multiple Moroccan cities, also serves as a qualifying pathway for the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup in Brazil.
The top two teams from each group will advance to the knockout stages. Nigeria’s Super Falcons will be seeking to defend their title and enhance their tournament record, relying on a mix of experienced players and emerging talent.
