Sheffield United coach Chris Wilder has confirmed that they are interested in signing Arsenal striker of Nigerian descent, Folarin Balogun.
The Blades are in the market for a striker following their opening day 2-0 loss to Wolverhampton Wanderers and the unavailability of Lys Mousset who has undergone surgery on a foot problem.
Given their low transfer budget, Sheffield United are targeting promising youngsters on the books of top Premier League clubs, including Liverpool's Rhian Brewster and Balogun.
When asked if he was in for Balogun at Wednesday's pre-match press conference, Wilder was quoted as saying by Yorkshire Live : "Yeah, we made an enquiry. That’s left with the CEO at our club and at Arsenal.
"We want attributes that suit us at the top of the club and hopefully move us forward".
Balogun's future has been the subject of debate in recent months after declining to sign a new deal, with the current agreement between club and player set to run out in June 2021.
The 19-year-old was in scintillating form in the Premier League 2 last season, scoring 10 goals in 15 matches and has already opened his goalscoring account this season, netting in a 2-1 win vs Ipswich Town in the EFL Trophy.
