Liverpool icon Michael Owen saluted Watford striker Emmanuel Dennis after his match-winning strike secured a shock 1-0 win over Aston Villa in a Premier League tie at Villa Park on Saturday evening.
The Nigeria international was on his longest goal drought in the top-flight since switching to the Hornets last summer, having failed to find the back of the net in five successive matches in the division.
Dennis scored the first goal of the Roy Hodgson era with twelve minutes left on the clock .
The 24-year-old got the wrong side of Ashley Young and powered home a header into the bottom corner after Ismaili Sarr's delightful cross.
The former Club Brugge man has been one of the bargain signings of the 2021-2022 season, joining Watford in exchange for four million euros.
Speaking on Premier League Productions post-match, Owen said : "I was surprised with the last result Burnley and I was equally surprised with this one, Watford winning away at Aston Villa.
"Dennis, what a player, what a signing he's been in the Premier League this season, great finish again from him."
With his goal against Aston Villa, Dennis has now directly participated in fourteen goals (9 goals, 5 assists) in 22 Premier League appearances.
