Brentford midfielder Frank Onyeka has eased concerns over his fitness ahead of Nigeria's Africa Cup of Nations round of 16 fixture, confirming he is fully fit and ready for action.
Onyeka picked up an injury during the Super Eagles' 3-2 victory over Tunisia and was an unused substitute during Tuesday evening's win against Uganda.
His absence sparked doubts about his availability for the knockout stage, but the 27-year-old has now dismissed those worries.
Speaking to reporters in the mixed zone after the group-stage encounter, Onyeka reassured fans and teammates of his condition.
"I am fit, you don't need to worry I am fit," he confirmed with a smile.
Reflecting on Nigeria’s performance, Onyeka praised the team’s depth and the contributions of players who stepped in during his absence.
"It was a good win, you could see the boys came in 3-1 which is good and we look forward to the Round of 16 which is on Sunday,," he added.
He also singled out Raphael Onyedika for special praise following his standout display.
"The boys coming in are playing a very big role, congratulations to Onyedika scoring two goals, yeah we are very happy," he said.
"I am very happy to see the other guys playing really well especially again with Onyedika getting two goals, we are all happy."
Nigeria finished the group stage as leaders of Group C with a perfect record, collecting nine points from three matches against Tanzania, Tunisia, and Uganda.
