Arsenal squandered a two-goal advantage as they were held to a 2-2 draw by bottom-placed Wolverhampton Wanderers at Molineux on Wednesday night, with Tom Edozie emerging as the home side’s hero on his Premier League debut.

Born in England, Tom is the younger brother of Southampton forward Sam Edozie, one of the dual-national players being monitored by Eric Chelle following his appointment as Super Eagles coach in January 2025.

Bukayo Saka put the Gunners ahead with a 5th minute header, and the visitors doubled their advantage ten minutes after the restart through Piero Hincapié.

However, Wolves refused to capitulate, mounting a spirited comeback as Hugo Bueno halved the deficit with the goal of the night in the 61st minute, before Tom Edozie’s goalbound effort took a decisive touch off Riccardo Calafiori and crossed the line in the fourth minute of stoppage time.

Speaking after the game, Edozie expressed his delight at marking his first senior appearance with a goal.

The winger told BBC Match of the Day: "It's a dream come true. Getting my debut is one thing and then scoring on my debut is another. Just so thankful, just so happy. 100 per cent, I'll take the goal. Definitely my goal.

"As I was watching the game I saw the game becoming a bit tense and we had more control of the ball than before so I knew that going into the last couple minutes of the game it was going to be more end-to-end, so I just tried to do as best as I can. Luckily I scored."

Edozie admitted to feeling nervous when he was told he would be introduced, and also reflected on his stoppage time strike.

"Obviously, I got a bit nervous. My legs started to shake a little bit but as soon as I got on that pitch i I was raring to go."

He continued:  "The ball dropped to me and just trying to keep it as low as people and just as hard as I can. They couldn't stop it, so it was my goal.

"Nothing was really going through my head, it was just loads of different emotions. I was so happy to be there when fans were cheering. Something I dream of."

The 19-year-old was an unused substitute in four official games, against Fulham, Chelsea, Nottingham Forest and Grimsby Town, before his first top-flight appearance against Arsenal.
