Former Arsenal fullback turned pundit Alex Scott has pinpointed what Eze has brought to the Crystal Palace team since he was acquired from Queens Park Rangers in the summer.
The Anglo-Nigerian attacking midfielder has been influential for the Eagles in his last five starts, scoring one goal and providing two assists.
Though Eze did not score or provide an assist in the 1-1 draw with Tottenham Hotspur last weekend, the England U21 international hit the woodwork and it was his excellent delivery into the box that led to Palace's equaliser.
"This allows Zaha to change up his position: sometimes you find him in the channels, then next time in the middle and that's what defenders find hard, when you don't know, when your players are making different runs.
"For Mourinho to say [Palace's main threat was packing the box with big players], I'm slightly confused, because I saw these players - Eze - looking, 'where's my main man, I want to connect with him.
"Throughout the whole game he made more passes to Zaha than he did any other player, which shows: How many weeks in the past are we talking about link up play with Harry Kane and Son? [At Selhurst Park] it was Eze and Zaha. It was their connection that shone for me. "
Eze and his Crystal Palace teammates face West Ham United in another London derby on Wednesday, December 16.
