Borussia Dortmund are on the verge of completing the signing of Chelsea midfielder Carney Chukwuemeka in a deal worth around €25 million (approximately N45 billion in Nigerian currency), including add-ons and a heavy sell-on clause.
Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano revealed that an agreement is in place, stating, “Carney Chukwuemeka to Borussia Dortmund, here we go! Deal done and plan confirmed.â€
The 21-year-old is expected to travel for his medical on Monday, alongside Argentinian defender Aaron Anselmino, who will join Dortmund on loan.
Once formalities are completed, Chukwuemeka will be unveiled as a permanent signing for the Bundesliga side.
The midfielder spent last season on loan at Signal Iduna Park, where he made a strong impression with his dynamism and technical ability.
Dortmund officials were encouraged by his performances and moved quickly to secure his long-term future.
Chukwuemeka initially joined Chelsea from Aston Villa in 2022 for around £20 million.
However, his progress at Stamford Bridge was disrupted by injuries and stiff competition in midfield, limiting his playing opportunities.
Despite showing flashes of quality in the Premier League, he struggled to gain consistent minutes, prompting his switch to Germany.
For Chukwuemeka, a permanent move to Dortmund represents a crucial step in his career, offering the chance to play regularly in a league renowned for developing young talents.
