Nigeria Working To Secure International Future Of Spurs Whizkid Josh Onomah
Published: September 04, 2016
Representatives of the Nigerian Football Federation and Sports Ministry have approached the highly-rated Tottenham Hotspur starlet Joshua Oghenetega Onomah to turn out for the Super Eagles rather than the Three Lions, allnigeriasoccer.com understands.
Born in Enfield in North London, the attacking midfielder is regarded as one of the top talents produced by the academy team of Spurs in recent years and rose through the ranks before making his first team debut in 2015.
The 19-year-old has played competitively for England youth teams, meaning Fifa has to formally approve his request to switch nationalities, assuming the Nigerian Federation are successful in their approach.
It is believed that Onomah is fully committed to the youth teams of England for the time being, and the NFF will have to use all their persuasion skills to convince him to dump England.
He has appeared for England U16, U17, U18 and U19 teams and made his debut for the U20s in a behind-closed-doors friendly against Brazil at St. George’s Park on Thursday.
