Rohr To Monitor Ezenwa, Moses, Ifeanyi, Okpotu, Okoro In WAFU Cup Showpiece
Published: September 24, 2017
Nigeria manager Gernot Rohr will be among the spectators at the Cape Coast Sports Stadium on Sunday evening when the Super Eagles take on Ghana in the showpiece game at the WAFU Cup of Nations.
The Nigeria Football Federation have announced that Gernot Rohr is expected in Ghana to support the home stars to victory in the final.
The German gaffer is expected to run the rule over the likes of Ikechukwu Ezenwa, Osas Okoro, Ifeanyi Ifeanyi, Aremu Afeez, Peter Moses, Olamilekan Adeleye and Anthony Okpotu before naming his roster for the crucial World Cup qualifier against Zambia this week.
Speaking ahead of the final, coach Salisu Yusuf said : ''We have gone so far. We want to win and Ghana want to win and that is natural. The team that converts their chances will win.
''I know it's going to be a very tough game, but I'm optimistic that at the end of the day we will win.
''When it comes to the semifinal, final and quarterfinal, it is not about how many goals you score that matters, but how can you qualify - that's the most important thing.
''We score our goal and we defend properly, then we win.
''We have created so many scoring chances in this tournament, but we haven’t converted as many as we would like.''
The Super Eagles have the best defense in the tournament with no goal conceded in five matches.
